Senegal - Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) Implementation

We would like to inform you that effective 1st March 2019 (BL date), a cargo Tracking Note (CTN) is mandatory for all shipments to Senegal.

It is mandatory for all Export cargo bound to a destination in Senegal to have a pre-validated CTN (Cargo Tracking Note) per commodity item which need to be mentioned on the BL and Cargo Manifest. Shipper is responsible to provide the CTN within 14 days after vessel departure from origin or prior vessel arrival at Dakar (Senegal) whichever comes first. With effective from 1st August 2019 (BL date), ONE will hold BL issuance until CTN is received from shipper and a surcharge of USD250/BL will be imposed if CTN submission is beyond the designated deadline.

EC5 / Fire onboard Yantian Express

As you would be aware, MV “Yantian Express” suffered a major fire that has resulted in both the vessel and a proportion of the cargo becoming either fire- or water damaged. Salvors SMIT Salvage Americas, LLC have been engaged under a Lloyds Open Form contract (LOF). On termination of the services under the LOF, the Salvors are entitled to retain the cargo until salvage security is provided.

WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS IN TANZANIA EFFECTIVE 1ST OF MARCH 2019

Restriction of containers moving to and from Dar es Salaam port via road effective 1st of March
2019. The Eastern African Community Vehicle Control Act 2016 covers not only Tanzania but

General Average declared for Yantian Express

On January 25, 2019, General Average was formally declared by the owners of the vessel
Yantian Express v108E in the EC5 service string. The declaration of General Average is the
result of the fire on deck of the Yantian Express and the subsequent firefighting efforts on the
vessel.

As of January 25th, the responsible salvage master from the company Smit has decided to
sail the “Yantian Express” to the Port of Freeport (Bahamas). Once there, the recovery and
assessment efforts of the cargo can proceed in a safer environment.
